Would you like to know how to create a legally compliant double opt-in subscription (DOI) in Inxmail?
You can find general information on the legal requirements for newsletter subscriptions in the knowledgebase.
In Inxmail, subscription settings for your recipients are managed in each mailing list.

Containers
Containers are like small articles or layout templates from which you can build your mailing. It is best to start working with the standard Inxmail containers. If the Inxmail containers don't meet your needs, you can create your own containers.
Containers consist of elements such as texts, images, or buttons. To learn how to select your entire mailing, a container, or an element, see the article Settings: Mailing, container, element.
Delete split
If you have worked with partial splits, you must ensure that you delete your splits in the correct order (partial splits first).
Check tool
Are you suddenly unable to set any further splits? Or is your container not working like it normally does? In most cases, that's because you are using the wrong tool.
Inxmail container or custom container
Standard containers are available by default in Newsletter & Campaigns. They cover standard cases such as text-only containers, image-only containers or typical article presentations in an online store newsletter.
Create custom containers so that you can position images and texts anywhere in your mailing.
Elements
Containers consist of elements. An element can be an image element, a text element, or a button element.
To learn how to select your entire mailing, a container, or an element, see the article Settings: Mailing, container, element.
Use your own fonts
Currently, only the following standard fonts are available: Arial, Georgia, Comic Sans MS, Courier New, Impact, Palatino Linotype, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS and Verdana.
You want to use your own web fonts? Contact your Inxmail representative or Care-Consulting@inxmail.de if you are not happy with the fonts available and you would like to insert your own web fonts. In any case, when integrating web fonts, you must ensure that your web font is used in compliance with the GDPR.
Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) required: Note that you must set up CORS on your domain if you host fonts on your on servers.
Use CORS release
Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) allows you to explicitly share fonts and other files that you host on your own servers for using them in XNEW or XPRO.
If images or fonts that you host on your own servers do not load in your mailing or dynamic web page, it is often because CORS is required but has not been set up. Talk to your administrator to set up CORS for Inxmail.
Supported browsers
In general, the Inxmail platform supports all browser versions released in the past 24 months. With Safari, we support all versions that Apple also supports. For Firefox, we support the latest Extended Support Release version (= ESR version).

Headings in the style set
Headings structure your mailing and help your recipients to quickly grasp the mailing content. Different heading levels (h1-h6) ensure different weighting of the content within your mailing.
The structure also helps screen readers to make sense of your source code. This makes your mailing more accessible (low-barrier).
Available languages in "Newsletter & Campaigns"
Newsletter & Campaignsis available in English and German. You can change the display language in your personal profile, which you can access via the header navigation.
Unsubscribe link
Your recipients can use the unsubscribe link in your mailing to quickly and easily unsubscribe from additional emails on this mailing list.

Approve mailing before dispatch
Before you can dispatch your mailing, you must approve it. Learn more here.
Subsequent changes to the style set
All changes to a style set are made in draft mode. If your style set is already being used in a mailing, you can transfer the changes to the linked mailings. Your mailing will then make the adjustments automatically. If you do not want to apply the changes to all linked mailings: Duplicate your approved style set and replace it in the affected mailing.
Replacing styles ets in individual mailings:You can also replace stylesets in individual mailings. Your mailing will then adopt the colors and fonts of the new style set.
Scripts in mailings
No. JavaScript and other scripts are not permitted for security reasons. If you opt to add scripts despite this, they will not be executed.
Standard text formats and free formatting
We recommend that you work with the standard headings and body texts that your team has stored in the "Text" tab of your style set. This is the only way to achieve a consistent look for your mailings based on your corporate design.
Create new text formats in the "Text" tab of your style set if the existing headings and body text are not sufficient.
As an exception, free formatting is also possible. You can find them in the text editing tools of your mailing if you scroll all the way down in the drop-down list of standard headlines and body texts.
Insert symbols and emojis
You can copy/paste (Unicode) symbols from other applications. In Windows, you also have the emojis from the emoji keyboard to choose from. To do this, press Windows + ..

Newsletter subscription
-
Newsletter & campaigns: Your customers can sign up for your newsletter mailing list using a subscription form.
-

Make sure that all attributes that you have defined in the module are also available for your recipients. Store a suitable fallback for empty attribute values in your block.
Integrate external content
In the External systems section, you can preconfigure and filter dynamic or static content from your external data sources (e.g. from your shop system) so that you can use it in your mailing.
Learn how to integrate website content into your mailing using Open Graph.
Create accessible mailings.
As we all know, there is no such thing as absolute "accessibility". We would like to give you a few tips on how to make your mailing as accessible as possible for all your recipients.
Many people with visual impairment use screen readers that read out mailing content to them. Two points are key here:
-
Alt text and title: We recommend that you add alternative texts and titles for all your images. For example, visually impaired recipients can have the texts read aloud via screen reader. Bots and search engines also like to access the written image information.
-
Heading levels: Headings help you structure your mailings. Different heading levels (h1-h6) ensure different weighting of the content within your mailing and help recipients with screen readers to navigate through your mailing and correctly read your source text. This makes your mailing more accessible (low-barrier).
Further measures:
-
Choose your colors so that the contrasts are sufficient for people with visual impairments to be able to read your text easily.
-
Use sufficiently large font sizes.
-
Write your texts in plain language.
Test mailing before sending
Use our various test options for this, for example the spam test. You can find information about the different tests here.

Available colors
In the mailing, you can choose from all the colors that you have created in your style set in the "Colors & fonts" tab.
Define style set:
When you create a new style set, you define which colors will be available to you later in your mailing. You also determine which of these colors are used for background, text and button elements.
Use in mailing:
When you create a mailing, you assign a style set to it. All colors you defined earlier in the style set will then be available to you. This keeps your mailings stay consistent with your design. If you want to use other colors, adjust your style set.
Available fonts
In your mailing, you can choose from all the fonts you have defined in your style set in the ‘Colors & Fonts’ tab.

Use style set in a mailing

Use automated or scheduled dispatch:

Target groups
If you only want to send mailings to specific recipients on your mailing list, we recommend working with target groups. This allows you to narrow down your recipients according to certain criteria (e.g. place of residence, gender or areas of interest) or design follow-up mailings based on clicks and openings.
Learn more: Target groups.
Deliverability
Are you wondering why your newsletter ends up in your recipient's spam folder? Or how you can generally improve the deliverability of your mailings?
-
You can find general information on deliverability in the Inxmail knowledgebase or in our whitepaper Deliverability in email marketing.

Why is my mailing bouncing?
There are several reasons for bounces:
-
Soft bounce (temporary)
-
Hard bounce (permanent)
In our knowledge base you can read about the other differences between the two bounce types and how they arise. You can view your bounces here:

Person-based tracking
Make sure that you have the consent of your recipients for personal tracking (so-called tracking permission). Only then may you evaluate the reactions of your recipients, such as clicks and openings, on an individual basis.

Display of buttons in IBM Lotus Notes
In IBM/Lotus Notes the button border and button background color will not be shown. If you know that many of your recipients work with Lotus Notes, we recommend the following:
-
Make sure that the font color of your buttons differs from the background color of your container or mailing. This way, the clickable text will still be visible even if the button background is not displayed.
-
Alternatively, you can work with images as buttons: Create your image buttons outside of newsletters & campaigns and link them to your landing page.
Rounded corners
The GMX, Web.de, and IBM Lotus Notes email clients do not support rounded corners. Your buttons will be displayed as square buttons in these email clients.
