Note for existing customers
The previous subcategories for "Spam" and "Autoresponder" from Inxmail Professional no longer apply.
In Newsletter & Campaigns there is now only one category for each of these types. All corresponding messages are grouped under "Spam" or "Autoresponder" – regardless of the technical return path.
Want the technical details?
The reason we used to have two separate subcategories for each (“Spam” and “Autoresponder”) in Inxmail Professional is that mail servers don’t always handle these types of replies the same way. As a result, they may end up in different technical return paths or inboxes.
-
Return-Path / Envelope-From: Used for automated responses
-
Reply-To or From: Used for manual replies
However, these headers are set on the mail server side and can’t be influenced by Inxmail. They also have no practical impact for you as a user. That’s why we’ve simplified the categorization in the
"Inbox & bounces" navigation item in Newsletters & campaigns.
Reference: For more technical information regarding autoresponder behavior, see RFC 3834.
