Overview: Subscription and unsubscription

Standard mailing lists

Recipients only receive mailings from a standard mailing list if they have subscribed to the respective mailing list.

Dynamic mailing lists

Mailings from dynamic mailing lists are always sent to all the recipients in the system or to the recipients in the system who belong to the dynamic mailing list target group (Overview: Mailing lists). Recipients cannot be explicitly subscribed to or unsubscribed from dynamic mailing lists.

Notes: Note that dynamic mailing lists are no longer supported. You can no longer create new dynamic mailing lists. If you have already used dynamic mailing lists before Inxmail Professional 4.7.1, you can continue to work with dynamic mailing lists.

Subscription

The following options are available for subscribing recipients to a standard mailing list:

Inxmail Professional also continues to allow subscription by email. In this old-established subscription process, recipients use an email to subscribe to a standard mailing list (Mailing list subscription and unsubscription by email).

Unsubscription

The following options are available for unsubscribing recipients from a standard mailing list:

Recipients unsubscribe themselves using an unsubscribe link in a mailing sent to them (Using unsubscribe links)

The processes for subscribing to and unsubscribing from a mailing list depend on the subscribe and unsubscribe procedures that you use (Unsubscribe procedures).

To allow subscriptions to and unsubscriptions from a standard mailing list to take place, you must configure various settings on the tab of the standard mailing list in the Subscriptions agent (Subscription and unsubscription setup and Subscribe and unsubscribe mailings).

The Subscriptions agent is displayed on the tab of the standard mailing list (Adding/deleting additional agents to/from mailing lists).
