Attribute assignment
Attribute assignments specify which fields of contacts, leads and accounts in Microsoft Dynamics 365 correspond to which recipient columns in Inxmail Professional.
You can freely configure which attributes you would like to sync between Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Inxmail Professional. In doing so, you can use standard Microsoft Dynamics fields and your own fields. Text, option set, two options, whole number, decimal number, floating point number, currency, date and time, date without time and lookup fields are supported.
The email address (emailaddress1) and the data record IDs in Microsoft Dynamics (contactid, leadid, accountid) fields are always synchronised and therefore do not require special configuration.
Step by step
Proceed as follows to create a new attribute assignment:
- Open the previously created Inxmail configuration in Microsoft Dynamics.
-
Under Attribute assignment, click the
Add the attribute assignment data record button.
A window appears.
- Enter the following in the window:
- Under Logical name (CRM), specify the Microsoft Dynamics name of the attribute (for example, firstname).
-
Specify the Inxmail Professional recipient table column to which the attribute is to be assigned under Inxmail Professional column name
Note that this recipient table column must already have been created in Inxmail Professional with a suitable column type.
-
Select the attribute’s data type.
The following data types are supported.
Data type Column type in Inxmail Professional Text
Corresponds to ‘Text’ column type.
Option set
For the transfer of option sets, you can choose to transfer the value or label of the option set. When transferring values, an ‘Integer’ type column must be used in Inxmail Professional, and a ‘Text’ type column when transferring labels.
Two options
Corresponds to ‘’Yes/No’ column type.
Whole number
Corresponds to ‘Whole number’ column type.
Decimal number
Corresponds to ‘Floating point number’ column type.
Floating point number
Corresponds to ‘Floating point number’ column type.
Currency
Corresponds to ‘Floating point number’ column type.
Date and time
Corresponds to the ‘Date and time’ column type.
Date without time
Corresponds to ‘Date only’ column type.
Lookup
Corresponds to ‘Text’ column type.
In the Entity field, select the recipient type for which this attribute applies (for example, the ‘gendercode’ attribute for the Contact recipient type). If you would like to use an attribute for two recipient types (for example, ‘address1_line1’ both for contact and lead), you must carry out two separate attribute assignments. The recipient transfer will fail if the system is not configured correctly.
-
Save your entries.
Attribute values from Microsoft Dynamics 365 are transferred to Inxmail Professional. Column values in Inxmail Professional are overwritten when the attributes are initially assigned for the first time if values have already been entered in the recipient columns affected in Inxmail Professional.
Once you have assigned the attributes initially, the interface synchronizes the recipient data between Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Inxmail Professional according to the intervals you specified in Synchronisation and workflows.
