Personalising PDF file attachments

Inxmail Professional allows you to personalise PDF documents and attach them to your mailings. When personalising your PDF documents Inxmail Professional uses the information from the recipient table. This ensures that each recipient receives a PDF document with their data. For example, a recipient can be addressed by name or reference may be made to their date of birth. Personalised PDF documents might be coupons, invitations, offers or tickets, for example.

To personalise a PDF document, you must first create it in an (external) PDF editor. The PDF document must fulfil the following requirements:

  • The PDF document must contain form fields that:
    • are set to visible

    • have been named differently (form fields with the same name will only appear in the Content agent once, however, when sending all instances of the field will be considered)

    • are only of the Text data type

    • are large enough to be able to display recipient-specific data

Note: If you use very large form fields (for example, a single form field for the entire address), you can take line breaks into consideration using the ‘Multi-line’ field property in Adobe Acrobat.

    • are not write-protected (so that they may be edited in Inxmail Professional)
  • the PDF file should not contain any personalised text (this may be added in Inxmail Professional, see below)

In order to personalise the PDF document with recipient data, you must create a new data source in the Content agent. Here, you link the PDF document to the required recipient data.
