Creating a newsletter subscription form using the double opt-in method

You can use the (Global settings) tab in the Files & web pages agent to create a subscription page in order to gather recipient subscriptions via your web page. To do this, go to the Web pages tab and click the (Create new web page) button.

Enter a name for the web page.
Select the Dynamic web pages (JSP) template followed by Subscription (standard), and confirm by clicking the OK button.
Fill out the template as required.
Publish the web page by clicking the (Publish web page) button.
Enter a directory name and confirm by clicking the OK button.

The Link address column displays the web address where you can view the web page on the Internet. You can now include the subscription page in your website.

From Inxmail Professional 4.7, the Dynamic ‘Subscription’ (Standard) Web page template automatically contains the Tracking Permission element. If you would like to create a new Dynamic ‘Subscription’ Web page starting from Inxmail Professional 4.7, you can find the Tracking Permission element beneath the main element Form.

As of 25 May 2018, application of the EU GDPR is mandatory for all EU member states. If you process your recipients’ personal data in your capacity as an email marketer or Inxmail Professional user, you will need to obtain your recipients’ consent to do so. If you send or use several mailing lists, you will need to obtain consent for each of these mailing lists. At the same time, you should provide your recipients with the opportunity to withdraw their consent at any time.

Enable the double opt-in method for your subscription process. This method prevents misuse by means of a two-stage subscription process (subscription form and confirmation mailing). If interested parties click the Subscribe button on your web subscription page, they will first receive a confirmation mailing. After explicitly subscribing to your newsletter via the confirmation link in this mailing, the interested party is included in the mailing list.

Set up a subscription confirmation mailing on the tab of the mailing list > Subscriptions agent > Subscribe/unsubscribe mailings tab. You can either customise the predefined mailing or create a new mailing. The mailing must contain a Subscription confirmation link (verify opt-in) to the landing page that is to appear upon successful subscription.
In order to subsequently use the mailing for subscriptions, you must activate it in the Approval workflow step by clicking the Approve immediately button.
Go to the Subscription tab and select the double opt-in function.
Under Send confirmation mailing in the Subscribe mailings section, select the mailing you have just activated.
Specify the URLs of the following landing pages:
- Landing page that appears if the double opt-in subscription has already been confirmed
- Landing page that appears if the period of time in which the double opt-in subscription must be confirmed has expired
Save your settings. You have now set up and activated the double opt-in subscribe procedure.

The Log tab of the Subscriptions agent lets you track who has subscribed or unsubscribed, and when this took place. This log serves as legal evidence for newsletter subscription.
