Description of the ‘Include tracking permission of deleted recipients’ property
If you enable the Include tracking permission of deleted recipients advanced list property, person-based tracking is also possible for deleted recipients.
Background Some integrations for shop systems or other external data sources automatically delete recipients from the mailing list after the mailing has been sent, and import recipients again before the next dispatch. In this case, clicks and opens of deleted recipients can never be traced to the individual level, as Yes values in the Tracking permission <List name> column are immediately deleted after every dispatch. The clicks and opens of all deleted recipients are evaluated in anonymised form only, irrespective of whether consent to person-based tracking originally existed.
To avoid this case, there is the Include tracking permission of deleted recipients advanced list property. If you enable the property, the Yes value of the Tracking permission <List name> column is stored for deleted recipients. Clicks and opens of recipients who have consented to person-based tracking can still be traced to the individual level after the recipient has been deleted.
Further information on the property
- The
Yes values of the Tracking permission <List name> column are stored per list and recipient in the background. The recipient who has been deleted from a list must still exist in the system. Only
Yes entries are saved.
No values in the Tracking permission <List name> column are not explicitly saved.
- Deleted recipients are not displayed in the recipient table. Therefore, their values are not visible in the Tracking permission <List name> column of the recipient table.
- Deleted recipients always have the possibility to grant or withdraw their consent to person-based tracking, for example, using the ‘Subscription’ Web page or the Grant tracking permission or Withdraw tracking permission link type. The Grant tracking permission, Withdraw tracking permission and Import tracking permission actions are also possible.
- When deleted recipients are resubscribed to the mailing list, the current value for the Tracking permission <List name> column is displayed.
- If you disable the Include Tracking Permission of deleted recipients list property, consent to person-based tracking is revoked for all recipients who were deleted from the list. This also includes deleted recipients whose
Yes values in the Tracking permission <List name> column have since been stored in the background.
- The composition of the target group based on the Recipient has given permission for person-based tracking condition changes; see Enabling the ‘Include Tracking Permission of deleted recipients’ property: special features.
