Managing forwarding and exceptions

In the Brand Identity Protection feature , there is a catch-all forwarding, which means that all variations of *@subdomain.example.org will be forwarded to the forwarding address that you defined when you first set up your domain.

  • You have the option to change the forwarding address you defined during the initial setup at a later date.

  • You can also add exceptions if you do not want all emails to be sent to the catch-all forwarding address.

Step by step

To edit a catch-all forwarding address later on or add exceptions to it, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the feature Brand Identity Protection.

The overview of your domains is displayed.

  2. In the required domain, click Detail view.

  3. Scroll down to the Sender and forwarding for replies point.

By default, the forwarding address, which you defined when you first set up your domain, is stored. If you have not stored any exceptions, all emails to your subdomain will be sent to this forwarding address, regardless of the local part of your email address (the local part of your email address is the part preceding the @ sign). )

  4. Changing the catch-all forwarding address:

To change your catch-all forwarding address or other existing forwarding address:

    1. Click the (Edit) icon in the Actions column.

    2. Enter the new forwarding address in the Forwarding for replies field.

    3. Click (Save).

  5. Adding exceptions:

You can also add exceptions if you do not want replies to specific email addresss to be sent to the catch-all forwarding address.

    1. Click the Add new forwarding button.

    2. Enter the desired sender address in the Sender address field, for example, management@subdomain.example.com.

    3. Enter the new forwarding address in the Forwarding for replies field, for example, management@example.com.

    4. Click (Save).

Now (almost) all emails to your subdomain will continue to be forwarded to reply@example. With one exception: Emails to management@subdomain.example.com are forwarded to management@example.com.

  • You have set up your forwarding address and added an exception.
