Inxmail Commerce as an email sending system
General information
If the source system generates and sends (transactional) emails, Inxmail Commerce can be used (purely) as an email sending system (mail relay). The outgoing emails from your source system are provided with a DKIM signature and sent otherwise unchanged via Inxmail Commerce using powerful, whitelisted servers.
Mail relay (also known as SMTP relay) generally means that an email from a sender domain will first be forwarded to a relay server before it is finally delivered to its recipients.
Where does the word "relay" come from?
"Relay" means "to pass on" and is used, among other things, in sports for a relay race: A race where one runner finishes and passes on a baton (= a stick-like object) on to the next runner. You can think of mail relay in the same way: Your email is first passed on to the Inxmail relay server like a baton and only then delivered to your recipients.
What is a relay server?
A relay server (or SMTP relay server) is a server that accepts and forwards emails from a sender domain. Either directly to the recipients. Or to other mail transfer agents, who deliver them to the final recipients.
In the case of the Inxmail mail relay server, you as an Inxmail customer have the advantage that, in addition to the above-mentioned functions such as dispatch performance, bounce management and whitelisting, you generally benefit from the excellent reputation of our dispatch (relay) servers.
This application scenario may also come into play when your source system cannot transfer (transactional) emails to Inxmail Commerce via REST API.
